Whatcom Land Trust is a nonprofit based in Bellingham, Washington, dedicated to preserving wildlife habitat, scenic landscapes, farmland, and open spaces in Whatcom County for future generations. It accomplishes this by acquiring or securing interests in land, encouraging responsible stewardship, and engaging a broad community of supporters and partners. Originating in Lynden in 1984 when local residents grew concerned about farmland loss, the organization has since become nationally accredited and community-supported in its approach to land conservation. Over its history, the trust has safeguarded more than 24,000 acres of shorelines, parks and farms, wildlife habitat, and forests, including 11,000 acres in the Lake Whatcom watershed. 

Its work serves residents and partners in Whatcom County, addressing the need to preserve ecosystems, protect agricultural lands, and maintain open spaces by collaborating with diverse community and business stakeholders. A recent development includes a partnership with Ridewta and the Whatcom Million Trees Project to preserve local forested lands and wetlands.
