Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) is a New Orleans–based nonprofit in the Individual and Family Services sector that supports underserved young people and their families through education, mentoring, enrichment, and employment readiness programs. Founded in 2004, YEP operates across five neighborhoods in the Greater New Orleans region and serves more than 900 youths and family members annually, addressing barriers such as illiteracy, poverty, and crime. The organization offers four core programs—YEP Educates, YEP Enriches, YEP Mentors, and YEP Works—to provide a continuum of services intended to help participants succeed in school and within their communities. YEP’s activities are rooted in community-based engagement, aiming to strengthen connections to family and community while expanding access to educational and employment opportunities. Recent developments include partnerships with local organizations to recruit internships and collaborate on initiatives that support youth career exposure and leadership in hospitality and related fields.
