WPBS-TV is a non-profit educational broadcaster licensed to the St. Lawrence Valley Educational Television Council, Inc., founded in 1958 under an absolute charter from the New York State Board of Regents. Based in Watertown, New York, it serves about 2.2 million viewers in Northern New York and Eastern Ontario, Canada. The organization produces local content, acts as Northern New York’s largest classroom, and distributes national programs.

Its mission is to educate, inform, and engage the two-nation region with trusted content across multiple platforms, and its vision frames it as a premier provider of public media that fosters curiosity across generations and borders. In April 2024, WPBS-TV announced the hiring of Chris Coons. The station operates within the broadcast media production and distribution industry, serving a cross-border audience with a blend of local programming and national content.
