World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is an environmental services organization that operates globally to support and represent actors in the bioenergy sector. Its members include bioenergy organizations, institutions, companies, and individuals, and it has worked since its founding in 2008 to address issues such as certification, sustainability criteria, bioenergy promotion, and debates about the sector's impact on food, land use, and water supply. The organization's mission is to promote increased, efficient, and sustainable global use of bioenergy and to support the business environment for bioenergy. WBA is based in Stockholm, Sweden, at 17 Holländargatan, Stockholm 111 60, and it employs between 2 and 10 staff. The association has a history of publishing reports and engaging in partnerships, including a 2017 Global Bioenergy Statistics report, a 2023 paper on transparency and best practices, and 2025 partnerships with Sbenergy and with Bioenergy International for webinar promotion, as well as leadership changes such as the appointment of Dr. Christian Rakos as president in 2021.
