The Virginia Poverty Law Center is a Virginia-based nonprofit focused on civil legal matters affecting low-income Virginians. Founded in 1978 and based in Richmond, it combines legislative advocacy with leadership, technical assistance, and public education for legal aid staff, private attorneys, and low-income clients, serving as the coordinating hub for Virginia's statewide legal aid community. The center offers trainings that concentrate on the rights of low‑income residents, a specialized focus within Virginia's legal services landscape. In May 2026 it launched VirginiaLawHelp.org, a free resource intended to help Virginians access legal assistance. It has also formed partnerships with eviction defense and tenant support organizations to expand online access to information and resources for renters facing eviction.
