Unifesp is a federal university in São Paulo that specializes in health sciences, integrating education with scientific research to train professionals in the health sector. Its roots lie in the Escola Paulista de Medicina, founded in 1933 and federalized in 1956, and in 1994 the law transformed it into a federal university while preserving programs in Medical Science, Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Speech Therapy, and Ophthalmic Technology, now part of Health Technologies. Over the decades the campus expanded to include numerous teaching centers, research institutes, and clinics around Vila Clementino, along with dedicated facilities such as Research Buildings I and II, the National Institute of Pharmacology, and the Regional Blood Center. The Hospital São Paulo functions as the university’s primary teaching hospital, recognized as the largest in the country for teaching and a reference for highly complex procedures, providing clinical training and welfare services through the Unified Health System. Located in São Paulo, Unifesp operates as a major provider of health sciences education and research.
