Tyrecycle, based in Summertown, South Australia, began operations in 1992 and is recognised as Australia’s largest tyre recycler. It collects scrap and imperfect tyres from manufacturers, retailers, local councils and other sources and disposes of them in accordance with environmental regulations. The company operates secure processing facilities across the country where tyres suitable for recycling are transformed into materials such as powders, chips, granules and crumb. These reclaimed products support a range of applications across manufacturing, road repair, construction, playgrounds, brake pads and sporting surfaces. Tyrecycle has established partnerships with more than 1,300 tyre retailers nationwide to participate in its recycling program.

Beyond recycling, Tyrecycle collaborates with government and industry to raise awareness of tyre recycling and to develop new applications for scrap tyres, contributing to reduced waste and landfill. The company maintains a national processing capacity and currently handles over 110,000 tonnes per year. It operates a network spanning every state and territory through its retailer partnerships. In 2025, Tyrecycle expanded its Western Australia facilities, including a Port Hedland site to enable end-of-life mining tyres to be recycled rather than buried.
