TiGenix is a mid-sized biotechnology research company based in Leuven, Flanders, Belgium, focused on developing therapeutics derived from allogeneic, donor-derived expanded stem cells. Its lead product, Cx601 (darvadstrocel), is a local injectable stem cell therapy for complex perianal fistulas in adults with Crohn's disease who have not adequately responded to conventional therapy or biologics. In Europe, it is marketed as Alofisel following regulatory approval in 2018, and TiGenix has an exclusive license with Takeda to commercialize Cx601 outside the United States. The company is pursuing a broader pipeline, including Cx611, a systemic suspension of allogeneic expanded stem cells for autoimmune diseases, currently evaluated in a Phase Ib/IIa trial for severe sepsis related to community-acquired pneumonia.
