Its mission is to further the progress of nations in the Global South and promote the elimination of various forms of poverty by fostering community development, particularly at the grassroots level. Application is by invitation only. In 2014, the West Foundation placed a moratorium on new partnerships. Only previous grantees are eligible to apply and proposals are by invitation only. Organizations considered for funding partnership increasingly demonstrate beneficiary-driven change and community leadership of programs and projects. Priority areas of giving at the West Foundation are as follows: 1) Livelihood Development 2) Women's Education 3) Community-Based Healthcare 4) Environmental Healthcare Priority consideration for all areas of interest may be given under the following categories: 1) Expansion of services for programs with a proven record of success 2) Programs which may serve as models for a particular field 3) Programs for which funding may be difficult to obtain due to lack of general public appeal For more information please contact Debra Des Vignes, Program & Communicatoin Officer, at debra@thewestfoundation.org or 317-972-0204.
