The Texas Lyceum is a Houston-based civic and social organization focused on identifying and developing Texas leadership and facilitating informed discussion on the state's major issues. It aims to educate its Directors by examining how interrelated policy areas affect Texas and by sharing understanding with the state's decision makers, while promoting stewardship of Texas values, traditions, and resources. Founded in 1980 by Texans from business, professional, and academic communities, it was established to address challenges such as water, transportation, education, and long-range planning in a non-partisan, non-political setting. The organization is guided by a statewide Board of Directors drawn from across Texas, reflecting leadership from diverse sectors. In 2025, The Texas Lyceum received the Stewardship of Texas Values Award, honoring founding member Skipper Dippel for long-standing contributions.
