The Sixteen is a London-based ensemble comprising a choir and a period-instrument orchestra that has performed and recorded worldwide for more than three decades. It is recognised as one of the world's leading ensembles, with a strong focus on the music it performs. Its repertoire centers on early English polyphony and Renaissance masterpieces, while also exploring Baroque and early Classical works and a broader range of 20th-century music. The group was founded and is led by conductor Harry Christophers. In July 2023, The Sixteen launched Choral Pilgrimage, a program designed to bring sacred choral music and Renaissance polyphony to UK audiences in the original venues for which the music was written, such as cathedrals, minsters, abbeys and churches. Based in London, the ensemble has sustained its presence through performance and recording.
