The National Association for Proton Therapy is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 1990 to educate the public about the clinical benefits of proton therapy. It functions as a resource center for patients, physicians, healthcare providers, insurers, academic medical centers, hospitals, cancer centers, Medicare, the U.S. Congress, health care agencies, and the news media. Its mission centers on education and public awareness of proton therapy. Headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia, the association lists 26 leading cancer centers among its supporting members, including some National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive centers and NCCN members. In 2017, the organization announced the appointment of Scott Warwick as executive director.
