The National Albert Schweitzer Fellowship is a mid-sized nonprofit in the civic and social sector based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It operates a national Fellowship program that trains health professionals to improve health outcomes by partnering with communities to identify unmet needs and design sustainable solutions, drawing on interdisciplinary cohorts and leadership training to foster long-term impact. Each year, approximately 250 Schweitzer Fellows participate with about 53 academic institutions, and upon completion they join a lifelong network of more than 4,000 alumni. The program began in 1940, originally connecting U.S. medical students with the Schweitzer Hospital in Gabon; it is now organized around ten sites across the United States, including Tulsa. The sites span regions such as Alabama, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, New Hampshire/Vermont, and the San Francisco Bay Area, among others. In 2023, the organization received the Oklahoma Turning Point Council's Community Health Champion Award.
