The Children's Scholarship Fund is a New York City-based nonprofit that offers tuition support for students in kindergarten through eighth grade from low-income families and seeks to broaden educational access for children. Since its 1998 founding by Ted Forstmann and John Walton, CSF reports supporting more than 224,000 children nationwide with scholarships totaling over $1.23 billion. In the current school year, more than 38,700 students are using CSF scholarships, including over 6,400 in New York City, with families contributing about half of their children's tuition on average. CSF relies on donor generosity and partner programs to sustain its scholarships, alongside the payments families make. In 2026 the organization entered into a partnership with EdOpt Navigator to expand its collaborative work.
