Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth is a historic engineering school embedded within Dartmouth College, based in Hanover, New Hampshire. It offers an engineering sciences education that is deliberately unencumbered by departmental divisions and emphasizes human-centered innovation in research and teaching. It is one of the oldest professional engineering schools in the United States. Its graduate programs include Master of Engineering Management (MEM), MEng, MS, and PhD degrees, with dual-degree options in collaboration with The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the nation's first PhD Innovation Program. On the undergraduate side, engineering is studied as part of a liberal arts education, resulting in the Bachelor of Arts degree, with many students pursuing the professional Bachelor of Engineering degree after additional coursework. In January 2026, Dartmouth announced a partnership with Technergetics, LLC to accelerate the development of integrated photonic comb sources.
