Symington Family Estates is a Porto-based producer of Port wines and Portuguese wines, with its headquarters in Porto. The group owns 26 estates in the Douro Valley and nearby regions, totaling about 2,462 hectares, of which roughly 1,114 hectares are under vine. It operates as an independent, multi-generational family business that oversees four Port houses—Graham’s, Cockburn’s, Dow’s and Warre’s—and Douro wine brands including Quinta do Vesuvio, Quinta do Ataíde, Altano and Prats & Symington (Chryseia and Post Scriptum). Its vineyards are managed under sustainable practices, with 130 hectares of organic farming—the largest area of organic vineyard in northern Portugal—and the company pursues viticulture research as part of a broader Mission 2025 sustainability plan. In 2019 it became a certified B Corporation, the first wine company in Portugal to achieve that status, and in 2020 it joined International Wineries for Climate Action to support decarbonisation efforts in the wine sector. A notable recent development is the 2025 launch of Matriarca in central Porto, a Port-themed townhouse that includes a wine bar, cellar, academy and restaurant to showcase fortified wine's versatility.
