The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting responsible and equitable energy choices across the Southeast. Founded in 1985 and based in Knoxville, Tennessee, it aims to address climate change while supporting clean, safe, and healthy communities in the region. It serves as a regional advocate for energy policy, pursuing federal, state, and local climate solutions, as well as energy efficiency programs and renewable energy development including solar and wind, plus sustainable bioenergy. The organization also promotes clean fuels and vehicles and opposes expansions of high-risk nuclear and coal-fired power plants, advocating retirement of older, inefficient coal plants.

For more than three decades, SACE has worked to defend the environment by challenging the status quo to minimize the energy sector's impact on communities, natural resources, and economies in the Southeast. A recent development is a 2025 collaboration with Atlas Public Policy to produce data-driven snapshots of the Southeast's electric-vehicle ecosystem, including manufacturing trends and charging infrastructure.
