SPSFBC was founded in 1984 under the leadership of Marjorie Marugg-Wolfe. From 1984 to 1998, SPSFBC operated with only volunteers. In December 1998, the organization received its own 501(c)(3) identification number and hired professional staff to expand the program. What We Do...Aside from financial support, our program also provides: Tutoring, Mentoring, Life Skills Workshops, Professional and Personal Counseling and Alumni Counseling. SPSFBC strives to provide a holistic approach to scholarship recipients because it takes more than just a scholarship to break the cycle of poverty for single parents. SPSFBC scholarship recipients are Benton County residents. Recipients must have obtained a high school diploma or GED and plan to earn their Associate's or Bachelor's degree in hopes of obtaining a career that will provide self-sufficiency.
