Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for around 580 pupils aged 11 to 18. There has been a co-educational Sixth Form since 1998 and since September 2023 girls have joined in Year 7 as the College goes fully co-educational. Flexi (2 nights), part (4 nights) weekly (6 nights) and full boarding is available from Year 7. Situated in 63 acres of beautiful Oxfordshire countryside near Henley-on-Thames, we offer an outstanding education based on the three core values of Inclusive, Individual, Inspirational. Shiplake’s most recent full ISI inspection in September 2025 went extremely well and we met all the standards by which we must operate, both the Independent School Standards Regulations (ISSRs) and also the National Minimum Standards (NMS) for boarding. An outstanding feature of the report is that Shiplake has been awarded a ‘significant strength’, which currently only a small minority of independent schools achieve. It states how “pupils who participate in sports, such as rowing, are given guidance in balancing their academic, sporting and wider commitments in a way which effectively promotes their wellbeing”.
