The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) provides world-class emergency pre-hospital care to the Queensland community.

As part of Queensland Health, we are an integral link in the primary health care sector, looking after our fellow Queenslanders in their times of need.

Our 15 Local Ambulance Service Networks, comprising 298 response locations and seven Operations Centres across the state, are staffed highly trained and dedicated Paramedics, Emergency Medical Dispatchers and Patient Transport Officers. They are well supported by our volunteer Local Ambulance Committees and First Responders in a number of locations. Our organisational structure can be viewed at https://www.ambulance.qld.gov.au/structure.html.

QAS is responsible for the delivery of pre-hospital ambulance response services, emergency and routine pre-hospital patient care and transport services, co-ordination of aero-medical services, inter-facility ambulance transport, planning and coordination for multi-casualty incidents and disasters, and casualty room services.

Our commitment to innovation and ongoing advancements in training and clinical practice position us as one of Australia’s leading ambulance services, despite the challenges presented by a geographically diverse state.

QAS is also a leader in the provision of quality First Aid training courses, which can be booked online at: https://bookings.qld.gov.au/services/firstaid/.

Careers
QAS accepts applications from Qualified Paramedics who have previously been employed as a paramedic with a state ambulance service, as well as from university graduates who have completed a degree in paramedic health science from an Australian or New Zealand tertiary institution. We also accept applications for the positions of Emergency Medical Dispatcher and Patient Transport Officer on ‘as-needed’ basis.
