Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) serves as the independent regulator for the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), authorized to oversee firms and individuals delivering financial services in or from the QFC. The QFC, created by the Government of Qatar in 2005, aims to attract international banking, insurance and other financial activities to grow the country’s financial services sector and its regional footprint. The authority operates a principles-based regulatory regime aligned with common-law practices, emphasizing transparency, predictability and accountability, and it regulates a broad range of banking, asset management and insurance activities offered to domestic and international firms within the QFC framework. Based in Doha, ad Dawḩah, Qatar, the regulator employs between 51 and 200 people and participates in cooperative oversight with national authorities through the Financial Stability and Risk Control Committee. In 2024 it launched the QFC Digital Assets Framework to regulate digital asset activities within the Qatar Financial Centre.
