Practising Law Institute (PLI) is a nonprofit organization that provides accredited continuing education for lawyers and other professionals. Founded in 1933 by Harold P. Seligson and chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York, PLI operates from New York City with an additional office in San Francisco. Its programs are delivered across multiple formats and rely on more than 4,000 volunteer faculty, including prominent lawyers, judges, investment bankers, accountants, corporate counsel, and regulators. In addition to its education programs, PLI publishes a comprehensive library of treatises, course handbooks, answer books and journals, accessible through the PLI PLUS online platform. The organization maintains a strong pro bono focus, with more than 98,000 attendees participating in pro bono programs in the past year. In May 2026, PLI released an updated Guide to Protecting Athletes' Interests in the evolving sports industry.
