The Pete du Pont Freedom Foundation is a small nonprofit based in Montchanin, Delaware, founded in 2003. It promotes the spirit of private enterprise by expanding access to the marketplace for entrepreneurs and their ideas. Operating as a 501(c)(3) organization, it runs initiatives such as the Pete du Pont Freedom Award, Reinventing Delaware, and the Equitable Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (E3). Guided by a board of directors, it collaborates with business leaders, community partners, and service providers to invest in business development, create jobs, and promote enterprise for all. In 2025, the foundation launched the HBCU Innovative Solutions Initiative to identify and support impactful entrepreneurial solutions, complementing its ongoing Reinventing Delaware competition which advanced a subset of ideas from the prior year. Through partnerships with other organizations and institutions, the foundation works to broaden resources for Delaware entrepreneurs and to carry forward Governor Pete du Pont’s legacy.
