The Ottawa Police Service is the municipal law enforcement agency serving Ottawa, Ontario, and was established in 1995. It provides policing and public safety services to residents, handling incidents and coordinating community safety efforts. The service has pursued digital improvements, including an online incident reporting system developed with Rubicon to support multilingual, non-emergency reporting. In recent years, OPS has expanded its community-based response through the launch of a Mobile Crisis Response Team in partnership with The Royal. It has pursued collaborative initiatives with health institutions and other local partners to extend crisis intervention and support services. In 2025, OPS appointed Kathleen Lanoue as Senior Advisor on Violence Against Indigenous Women, reflecting a focus on marginalized and high-risk populations.
