Founded in 1971, Orthopaedic Research Laboratories (ORL) is recognized as a leader in ASTM/ISO standardized and custom orthopaedic device evaluation via state-of-the-art mechanical testing, wear testing, and computational analysis. Our clients include global orthopaedic implant manufacturers from start-ups to major industry players. 

With a mission to improve patient outcomes, our goal is to help solve complex musculoskeletal problems by providing bench-top performance data, design optimization, and ultimately, regulatory compliance. To do this, ORL is equipped with proprietary multi-directional wear simulators, hydraulic axial-torsion testing frames, and the capability to perform kinematic and finite element computational analysis testing. In-house photographic and CAD proficiencies make ORL a full spectrum orthopaedic device testing facility.

Our testing expertise includes fatigue, finite element analysis, computational kinematic assessment, hip, knee, shoulder and small joint arthroplasty systems, modular connection fatigue and surface damage, fracture fixation plates, rods, bone screws, bone cement and mixing systems, as well as spinal fusion systems.
