OPERA America is a mid-sized nonprofit organization in the performing arts, based in New York. Founded in 1970, it supports the opera community by aiding the creation, presentation, and enjoyment of opera. Its network comprises more than 600 opera companies, educational institutions, affiliated businesses, and other entities, with more than 40,000 staff members, artists, and trustees at member organizations joining nearly 3,000 individual members. The organization conducts national convenings, research, advocacy, and a broad slate of programs for artists, administrators, educators, trustees, and appreciators to advance opera as both industry and art form. The National Opera Center in New York City serves as the centralized home for the field, welcoming about 80,000 visitors annually. In late 2025, OPERA America announced leadership changes, naming Michael J. Bobbitt as President and CEO and appointing Marc A. Scorca as President Emeritus.
