Onassis Foundation USA is a small nonprofit based in New York City, established in 1999 as the American affiliate of the Greek Onassis Foundation. It focuses on promoting Greek culture and fostering cultural relations with educational and cultural institutions in Greece and across the Americas. Operating within the museums, historical sites, and cultural programming sphere, the organization pursues its aims through two main initiatives. The Onassis Cultural Center New York serves the general public with cultural and educational programming, while the University Seminars Program places eminent scholars from around the world in universities in North and Latin America to teach courses on topics related to Hellenic civilization. A core objective is to connect scholarship with public access and cross-border cultural exchange. In December 2020, the organization launched ONX Studio (the Onassis, NEW INC Extended Reality Studio) in collaboration with the New Museum’s NEW INC, bringing together artists and producers to develop extended-reality works for the public realm.
