North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 and based in Caledonia, Minnesota. It unites citizens, scientists, and professionals to advance the management and protection of lakes and reservoirs for present and future needs. Though its focus centers on lakes, water is the medium guiding its activities, which also touch land, streams, wetlands, and estuaries. NALMS aims to facilitate information exchange about lakes and watersheds, raise public awareness of lake ecosystems, and foster public support for related programs. It provides guidance to those involved in management, promotes professional development, and identifies research needs in lake ecology and watershed management. In December 2024, at the 44th International Symposium, the organization recognized John Jablonski III with the Lake Management Success Story Appreciation Award for his work with the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy.
