Founded in 2005 and based in New York City, the New York City Master Chorale is a chorus of about 75 voices that aims to connect people through choral music. It presents a challenging repertoire of traditional and contemporary works, collaborates with other artists and organizations, and extends its reach through outreach and education programs. Its performance history includes major venues across the city, such as Riverside Church, Lincoln Center venues, and Carnegie Hall, with a European debut in Paris in 2011. The ensemble's repertoire spans both traditional and modern choral works, including notable premieres and performances of works by contemporary composers. In 2011 it was recognized as a semi-finalist in the Community Chorus Division of the American Prize in Choral Performance, and in 2021 it announced the appointment of David J. Recca as Artistic Director.
