The National Consumer for Quality Long-Term Care (formerly NCCNHR) is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1975 that advocates for quality care and quality of life for consumers in all long-term-care settings. We represent the consumer voice at the national level as an advocate for quality long-term care, services and supports. For more than 30 years, the Consumer Voice has worked to empower and educate consumers and families with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for themselves; train and support individuals and groups to advocate for and empower consumers of long-term care; promote the critical role of direct-care workers and promote best practices and quality-care delivery.

Consumer Voice's current 17-member board and leadership council, which includes residents of nursing homes, represents the grassroots membership of concerned advocates of quality long term care nationwide. The board is elected by consumer-controlled member groups and meets four times a year to establish policies and to help direct financing and programming issues.

Our mission is to represent the consumer voice at the national level as an advocate for quality long-term care, services and supports. To carry out its mission, the Consumer Voice will:

•Advocate for public policies that support quality care and quality of life responsive to consumers' needs in all long-term-care settings
•Empower and educate consumers and families with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for themselves
•Train and support individuals and groups to advocate for and empower consumers of long-term care
•Promote the critical role of direct-care workers and best practices in quality-care delivery
