Native Governance Center is a Native American–led nonprofit based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded in 2016 to address a growing demand for Indigenous governance and leadership resources among the 23 Native nations in the surrounding region. Its work centers on strengthening governance systems and the capacity of Native nations to exercise sovereignty, drawing on a Native nation rebuilding approach supported by research and field experience. The organization provides customized resources, learning experiences, and technical assistance related to Indigenous governance, and runs the Native Nation Rebuilders program to develop Indigenous leadership. Its services are targeted at Native nations in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, with the goal of enabling communities to determine their own futures and improve quality of life while fostering a broader public understanding of Indigenous governance. Recent leadership developments include the appointment of Amber Annis to the organization leadership team in late 2024 and her introduction as executive director, and the center has been recognized with the 2023 Mission Award for Anti-Racism Initiative.
