The National Music Museum is a museum and research center located on the campus of The University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. It houses collections of musical instruments and related materials of international renown that span centuries, from Italian violins and famous guitars to organs, harpsichords, and a variety of non-Western instruments. The institution maintains extensive archives and offers North America's only graduate degree in musical instruments, supporting scholarly research and education. Founded in 1973, the museum has become a recognized institution within its field, serving researchers, students, and visitors with an interest in instrumental history. In 2024 it launched Discovery Saturdays, a monthly program expanding public engagement with music history.
