The National Healthy Start Association (NHSA) is a Washington, DC–based nonprofit serving as the membership organization for federal Healthy Start programs. Its work focuses on improving birth outcomes and reducing health disparities in communities of color by promoting and expanding community-based maternal and child health programs that address maternal and infant mortality, low birth weight, and perinatal disparities. With a network of more than 100 Healthy Start projects across the United States, NHSA aims to increase the capacity of community-driven MCH initiatives and preventive health services, extending care to mothers, fathers, and families within the wider community. Recent collaboration activity includes partnerships with organizations such as the Preeclampsia Foundation and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital to provide educational resources and no-cost wellness services aimed at improving birth outcomes and addressing racial disparities in health.
