The National Congress of American Indians is a national advocacy organization in the government relations arena, representing tribal governments and their citizens. It seeks to shape federal policy through government-to-government engagement and to increase public understanding of American Indian and Alaska Native governments, people, and rights. Founded in 1944 and based in Washington, D.C., it is the oldest, largest, and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization in the United States.

As a mid-sized nonprofit, NCAI works to inform and influence policy discussions that affect tribal nations and their communities. In February 2026, it announced the launch of a collaborative digital resource hub with the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative to strengthen tribal sovereignty in agricultural development and governance.
