Mount Washington Observatory is a private, nonprofit, member-supported research institution based in North Conway, New Hampshire. Its core mission is to deepen understanding of the natural systems that generate Earth's weather and climate. Since 1932, the organization has operated a weather station atop Mount Washington, using this high-elevation site for scientific study and for educational outreach. It collaborates with other organizations to analyze long-term meteorological data and expand access to weather and climate knowledge. Recent partnerships include work with Hubbard Brook Research Foundation and the Appalachian Mountain Club to examine long-term data from multiple sites and develop a weather almanac. The Observatory has also partnered with external groups to broaden its outreach, such as a collaboration with Minus33 to develop a mountain heritage hiking sock associated with its activities.
