Established in April 2013, the Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program (MVLP) provides free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of Montgomery County who face legal challenges. The program operates under the oversight of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation, a nonprofit entity that manages its day-to-day affairs. More than 440 Montgomery-area attorneys volunteer their time through MVLP, contributing at monthly clinics and help desks and by referring clients for longer-term representation, with services provided at no charge to eligible residents. Based in Montgomery, Alabama, MVLP reflects the active involvement of the local legal community in promoting access to justice for underserved populations.
