MIOX designs and builds on-site generators that produce disinfection chemistry from salt, water, and electricity for immediate use in water treatment and related applications. The product lineup includes configurations aimed at different priorities: low-cost, reliable sodium hypochlorite generation and a system designed to maximize disinfection efficacy through proprietary cell design and power control. Its equipment serves municipal and industrial drinking water and wastewater treatment, industrial cooling towers, aquatics disinfection, food and beverage CIP, and oil and gas operations including offshore processes and produced water treatment. 

MIOX operates in the chemical manufacturing space focused on electrochemical disinfection, offering alternatives to chlorine dioxide, UV, isothiazolin, stabilized bromine, and other biocides. The company holds 25 current patents, several patents pending, numerous provisional patents, and trade secrets related to electrolytic chemistry and on-site generation. Since being acquired by De Nora in 2019, MIOX has thousands of installations in more than 50 countries, treating more than 7 billion gallons of water per day; in April 2024 it announced a partnership with the FEMSA Foundation to support clean-water initiatives in Tabasco.
