The Michigan Forest Products Council (MFPC) formed March of 2002 to protect, promote, and sustain Michigan's forest economy. Working together, the MFPC is a unifying force representing Michigan's most precious renewable resource and our globally competitive business. MFPC membership encompasses the entire forest products industry value chain – from landowners to sawmills, lumber companies to manufacturers. Member companies are committed to the principles of sustainable development, defined as strategies that meet current consumer demands while securing a vibrant future for Michigan's forests. Under the direction MFPC leadership, policy committees and interdepartmental taskforces, and organizations including , Project Learning Tree (PLT), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), the Michigan Pulp, Paper & Products Environmental Council (MPPEC), MFPC is able to fulfill its mission to educate, inform and lead in maintaining the healthy forest and forest products industry in Michigan.
