MESA Charter High School is the flagship campus of a Brooklyn-based network of charter schools serving diverse communities in the borough. The school opened its Math, Engineering, and Science Academy campus in Bushwick in August 2013 and now serves about 500 students in grades 9–12. Since graduating its first senior class in 2017, the school has reported a 94% cumulative graduation rate. To meet growing demand, the network is expanding with MESA South Brooklyn launching this year for 9th grade with about 130 students, and MESA East New York serving 7th and 8th graders with plans to open a high school campus in the 2026–27 school year. MESA also operates the MESA Alumni Lab, which supports 125 young adults ages 18–24 across New York City through small-group workshops and interventions to re-engage with education and career pathways. In June 2023, the organization announced the appointment of Joanna as Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director.
