The University of Tennessee Southern, based in Pulaski, Tennessee, is a liberal-arts university that operates within the University of Tennessee System. It was established in 2021 through the acquisition of Martin Methodist College, an institution founded in 1870, and it marks the system's fourth undergraduate campus. Positioning itself as the public four-year higher education option for the region between Chattanooga and Memphis, the campus sits near the state’s southern border, about 70 miles south of Nashville and 40 miles north of Huntsville, Alabama. The university serves undergraduate students pursuing a liberal-arts education and supports access and student success through partnerships and campus programs. In May 2026, UT Southern announced a partnership with Columbia State Community College to deepen collaboration and transfer opportunities.
