Maria's Italian Kitchen operates a family-founded Italian restaurant concept rooted in Napolitano recipes from Maria Alfano's original take-out kitchen, launched in 1975. The concept evolved into a table-service format in Sherman Oaks in 1985 and has since expanded under Madelyn Alfano, who oversees all kitchens and locations. The restaurants emphasize warm, attentive service and the use of high-quality ingredients, reflecting the Alfano family approach to cooking.
Based in Van Nuys, California, the business sits in the casual dining segment of the restaurant industry, offering traditional Italian dishes to neighborhood diners. Its target customers seek familiar flavors and a family-friendly dining experience that combines hospitality with consistent quality. A December 2024 news item notes that Maria's Italian Kitchen was recognized as Purbeck business of the year in 2024.
