The Luxembourg Institute of Health is a public biomedical research organization based in Luxembourg, in the Luxembourg region. It conducts research in oncology, infection and immunity, and population health with the aim of understanding disease mechanisms and contributing to new diagnostics, innovative therapies and clinical applications that improve healthcare for Luxembourgish and European citizens. The institute participates in national and international programs in personalized medicine and acts as a catalyst for collaborations with hospitals, healthcare providers, and other biomedical organizations, facilitating the transfer of scientific discoveries to create value and providing public health information to authorities and international bodies. LIH hosts a wide range of trainees, Master students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with the University of Luxembourg and other partner universities, offering modern infrastructure and quality supervision to support their early-career work. In January 2026, LIH was recognized with ISO 20387 accreditation for its biobanking activities. In May 2026, LIH partnered with the Laboratoire National de Santé to reinforce a highly integrated national approach to research and care.
