L’Arche Greater Washington, D.C. is a nonprofit organization that brings people with and without intellectual disabilities to live together in a shared life, aiming to foster a more humane society. Core members—adults with intellectual disabilities—lead the daily rhythm of the four homes, guiding relationships and mutual support. The group operates two homes in Washington, DC and two in Arlington, offering housing and wraparound services to adults who need them. Its reach extends to hundreds of people in the wider community, providing a sense of belonging and opportunities for growth across diverse backgrounds. The organization is part of the international L’Arche federation and maintains an inter-denominational Christian framework that welcomes participants from all faiths or none. In February 2021, Carolyn Rumer was appointed President of the Board.
