The Kennebunk, Kennebunkport & Wells Water District is a quasi-municipal utility delivering water services in southern Maine. Established in 1921 by an act of the Maine State Legislature, it is based in Kennebunk and serves a 25-mile stretch along the York County coastline, including the towns of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Wells, Ogunquit, Arundel and portions of Biddeford and York; governance is provided by a four-member Board of Trustees elected from the towns of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Wells and Ogunquit. The district serves a seasonal population that ranges from about 28,000 to over 75,000 residents. It emphasizes delivering high-quality water and customer service at the lowest reasonable cost, supported by a team that values teamwork and technology. In 2019, the district added a series of calculators to its website to help customers gauge the financial impact of potential changes.
