Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death in Ireland. Today alone, 16 people will experience a heart attack and 20 will suffer a stroke. These are stark facts but the equally hopeful truth is that 80% of early heart disease and stroke is preventable. For 60 years, the Irish Heart Foundation has led the national effort to eliminate preventable death and disability, advance heart health, support patients and carers and collaborate across communities, workplaces and schools. As the national heart and stroke charity, we fight for better prevention, better support and better outcomes. We advocate for change, provide vital patient and carer services and support people rebuilding their lives after heart disease or stroke. Our work is only possible through public and corporate donations, which fund more than 90 percent of everything we do. We are here for every community, every school, and every workplace.
