Established in 1978, the InterFaith Council of Metropolitan Washington coordinates eleven historic faith communities in the Washington, D.C. area to foster dialogue, mutual understanding, and a sense of shared community while promoting justice across the region. These traditions span Baha’i, Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, Jain, Jewish, Latter-day Saint, Protestant, Roman Catholic, Sikh, and Zoroastrian communities. Through coalition-building, education, training, and advocacy, the council aims to unite faith leaders to speak and act together and to publish resources for the broader community.
