Illinois Biotechnology Innovation Organization (iBIO) is a life sciences industry association based in Chicago in the Midwest. It brings together more than 500 members—including life sciences companies, universities, academic institutions, and service providers—to support Illinois and the surrounding region as a center for biotechnology. The organization facilitates industry growth by offering a forum for stakeholders to collaborate, educating the public and policymakers, and influencing public policy to advance the community's economic interests. Its members operate across agricultural, bio-industrial, pharmaceutical, and medical devices sectors and value intellectual property protection, science-based regulation, and strong STEM education. A recent development includes iBIO Institute's participation in the 15th Illinois BioGENEius Competition in 2026, illustrating ongoing outreach to students and the next generation of researchers.
