iKeepSafe is a nonprofit international alliance established in 2005 that brings together policy leaders, educators, law enforcement, technology experts, public health professionals, and advocates to study how digitally connected products affect children. Through its research, the organization tracks global trends and issues and translates those insights into resources for parents, educators, and policymakers to guide youths in safe and healthy use of new media devices and platforms. It also offers privacy assessments for technology vendors, with programs including the FERPA Badge, California Student Privacy, and COPPA Safe Harbor Seal to provide a standard for evaluating products and building trust for families. iKeepSafe evaluates how student data is handled by websites, apps, and data-management systems, considering compliance with federal and state laws as well as alignment with its guiding principles. Based in Washington, D.C., the nonprofit actively participates in and hosts events such as the NICE K12 Cybersecurity Education Conference, reflecting its role in school-focused cybersecurity education. In 2024, it partnered with HelpKidzLearn to enhance security measures for educators and parents.
