The Harn Museum of Art is a university-affiliated art museum in Gainesville, Florida, located on the University of Florida campus. It maintains a collection of about 13,300 works and presents exhibitions drawn from its holdings and from lenders, with free admission to encourage public access. The museum features eleven galleries organized around its African, Asian, modern and contemporary, and photography collections, and has expanded its space with an 18,000-square-foot addition for contemporary art in 2005 and a 26,000-square-foot addition for Asian art in 2012. Since opening in 1990, it has served students and faculty as well as the wider North Central Florida community, attracting more than 2.5 million visitors. It houses The Florida Art Collection, Gift of Samuel and Roberta Vickers, and a portion is exhibited year-round in a dedicated space; a new 20,000-square-foot wing was planned to open in 2024 to accommodate this and additional exhibitions. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts traveling exhibitions and loans from other lenders across the United States.
