Happy Hollow Park & Zoo is a mid-sized entertainment venue in San Jose, California, that combines children’s rides, amusements, a Puppet Theater, and play areas with an accredited zoo housing more than 150 animals, including endangered species such as lemurs and goats. The park closed in 2008 for a $72 million renovation that expanded the site from 12 acres of existing rides and zoo to include four additional acres with new animal exhibits, veterinary and commissary facilities, an Education Center, Guest Services and Gift Shop, a Restaurant, new parking, and a pedestrian bridge, while updating facilities to meet ADA requirements. The project also aimed to pursue LEED certification, reflecting an emphasis on environmentally mindful design. It serves families in the Bay Area as a destination that blends recreation with opportunities to learn about wildlife and nature. Based in San Jose, the organization operates as a mid-sized venue within the entertainment services sector. In March 2025, the San Jose Public Library partnered with Happy Hollow to offer joint programming during March.
